Māori Trustee $10m Top-Up Māori Small Business Cashflow Loan Scheme

08 July 2020

Jessica Powell |

The Māori Trustee (Te Tumu Paeroa) has established the Top-Up Māori Small Business Cashflow Loan Scheme to assist  Māori SMEs with the payment of core operating costs.

For Māori SMEs that have received the Government Small Business Cashflow Loan, they will now be able to apply for a further 50% of that loan amount from the  Māori Trustee.

The loan terms are not dissimilar to the Government’s scheme. There will be no interest if the loan is paid back within a year, otherwise interest will be charged at 3% from the inception of the loan. No repayments are required for the first 2 years, but the loan must be repaid in full within 5 years.

For more information please view the full terms and conditions for the loan

Applications for the scheme are open from 18 June 2020 and will remain open until 14 August 2020, or until the $10m has been entirely committed to eligible applicants.

There are no application fees.

You will need to have the following evidence to support your application:

  1. Evidence that your business/organisation is Māori owned
  2. That you had applied and been approved for the Government Small Business Cashflow Loan
  3. That you have a plan to ensure your business/organisation remains viable and ongoing

For a full list of information required, or to apply, please visit the Te Tumu Paeroa Website.

This scheme is administered by the Māori Trustee, who have indicated processing times for the loan range from 4 to 8 weeks, with approved loans been paid within 5 working days from the date of approval.
