Social

Our vision is people helping people achieve their dreams. We care deeply about the social side of ESG, and have strong presence in the Not-for-Profit sector, working with organisations to help improve people’s lives.

While at BDO, we’re certainly not mental health experts, as advisers to over 16,000 businesses across Aotearoa, we are in a unique position to see the impacts of a wide range of factors on New Zealand business leaders and their businesses – including financial, economic, regulatory, environmental and social. Launched in June 2022, the BDO Business Wellbeing Index – BDO Te Rangahau o Ngā Hauora Pai - is a unique biannual study exploring the relationship between wellbeing and business performance in the New Zealand business sector. Read our latest report here, featuring a range of practical tips to help navigate our current business context.

We also have a specialist Māori business team who work with Māori businesses across the motu. We are proud to work with the sector to produce the annual BDO Māori Business Sector report, which aids understanding of this integral part of Aotearoa’s economy. We are also very proud to give back to contribute in our own way through BDO’s Sir Henare Ngata scholarship programme.

Our social business advisory offering includes:

  • Full-spectrum Not-for-Profit business services, including accounting, tax and advisory services
  • Bespoke non-financial reporting service for both NFPs and other businesses across a range of industries
  • Social impact measurement service
  • Full-spectrum Māori business service
