Poppy is a Tax Partner based in BDO’s Wellington office. She works with privately owned businesses, high-net-worth individuals, family groups and corporate clients on New Zealand and international tax, business structuring, and cross-border investment and transactions.
Poppy’s client work covers a wide range of tax matters. It includes advice on income tax, GST, FBT and the Research and Development Tax Incentive, as well as guiding clients through business reorganisations, acquisitions and cross-border transactions. She works closely with business owners and senior leaders to make sure their tax decisions support their wider commercial goals.
Poppy began her career in London, specialising in US expatriate tax, before moving to New Zealand and working at a Big Four firm. This mix of international and local experience makes her a natural fit for businesses expanding into new markets, helping them manage their New Zealand obligations while they grow offshore.
Poppy builds long-term relationships with her clients and takes the time to understand each situation. She explains technical tax matters in plain language, so clients come away with practical advice they can act on with confidence.
