Gilbert Yoo

Gilbert has over a decade of audit and assurance experience across Australia and New Zealand. His professional services background is complemented by four years of industry experience as a finance leader within one of New Zealand’s leading state-owned enterprises.

Gilbert joined BDO Auckland in 2023. He is recognised for his high level of technical problem solving capability and deep understanding of IFRS, which enables him to provide clear, practical advice on complex accounting matters.

Gilbert is highly client focused and places strong emphasis on getting to know his clients and their businesses in depth. This is driven by his broad commercial and professional experience, allowing him to build trusted, long term relationships with his clients.

He has a particular interest in and extensive experience working with, mid-market and small businesses across both the Australian and New Zealand markets.

This includes transitioning many of his clients into to an IFRS audit regime for the first time and supporting them as they grow and evolve. 

Outside of BDO, Gilbert enjoys spending time with his young family. You may see him riding his bike or kicking a ball with his two boys at various parks and sporting grounds across the North Shore.
