Alex Thornton

 Alex Thornton is an Advisory Partner with BDO Auckland, based in the Takapuna office. She began her career as a graduate with BDO in 2013, later gaining valuable international experience through three years working in London, before returning to New Zealand to continue her professional journey with the firm.

Alex enjoys helping clients achieve their business goals by delivering practical, tailored solutions that enable long term success. She provides compliance accounting and taxation services alongside business advisory support to a broad range of small to medium enterprises throughout New Zealand. Her expertise includes strategic planning, management reporting, succession planning, tax planning and business structuring. Alex works with clients across a diverse range of sectors, including manufacturing, import and distribution, food retailing, media, and professional services.

Alex provides virtual CFO services to a number of her clients, working closely with owners and management teams to deliver strategic insight, strengthen financial performance, and support confident decision making.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys challenging herself through endurance sporting events.  She is an accomplished athlete, having competed in more than 10 marathons worldwide, as well as several ultra-marathon and adventure racing events. She is a member of a number of running clubs and sports teams across Auckland and enjoys participating in sporting events with others.
