Budget 2025

Follow our timely Budget day insights on key business policies

Times remain challenging for many business leaders and owners across New Zealand. Ahead of the 2025 Government Budget being unveiled, more than 700 business leaders and owners shared their views on the leading issues they face in the May 2025 BDO Business Wellbeing Index.  So how might the Government respond to some of these business challenges in the Budget?

While Finance Minister Nicola Willis has indicated that this Budget will be "no lolly scramble", in his pre-Budget speech, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said:

"If we really want to create high-paying jobs, lift incomes, and make New Zealand a hub for innovation and investment, we need to make our business environment much more attractive."

All eyes will be on the Beehive on Thursday 22 May to see what is announced.
