BePure builds a healthy future in wholesaling with customised digital tech

The rapidly evolving technology landscape presents both challenges and opportunities for businesses. With so many products available, it’s important for companies to cut through the noise and harness the tools that offer them the most benefits – but this can be easier said than done. 

When New Zealand wellness brand BePure sought to overhaul their software system for B2B sales, they weren’t sure where to start - but soon learned the value of sourcing a customised solution, drawing on outsourced expertise, which helped their business efficiency soar!

Finding smarter systems to support brands that put people first

BePure is a New Zealand-based health company known for its science-backed natural supplements and clinical roots. Alongside its sister brand Eve Wellness, BePure has carved out a unique space in the wellness industry, offering targeted products that address real health challenges. 

“Our point of difference is creating products that make a genuine impact,” says Savannah Gagnon, Key Account Manager at BePure. “We started as a health clinic, so our product development is grounded in real clinical needs. Eve, for example, grew out of our hormone testing lab and now offers a simplified, high-strength range for women’s health.”

 

With operations across New Zealand and Australia, BePure has evolved from a purely e-commerce business into a hybrid model with a growing  footprint in retail. However, as the business up-scaled, so did its operational complexity.


The challenge: Disconnected tools and limited visibility

When BePure expanded into retail, it became clear that its existing systems weren’t fit for purpose. A simpler and more cohesive Client Relationship Management (CRM) tool was required to benefit the whole team – from in-office staff to sales reps on the road.

“We needed a CRM that worked for everyone,” says Savannah. “It had to support our B2B sales growth and be intuitive for all our team members to use.”


Other priorities were customisation and integration. BePure uses Cin7 for inventory management, so the new CRM system needed to be easily integrated with this – as well as offer clear reporting functionality. 

The solution: A customised CRM – streamlining work and saving time!

Having enjoyed working with them previously, BePure turned to Josh Ambler and Luke Shortland from BDO Digital for help. With existing knowledge of BePure’s systems and a deep understanding of Cin7, they were able to quickly get-to-grips with BePure’s problem and recommend the best possible solution.

“Josh had helped us with Cin7 before, so it was easy to work with him and Luke,” says Savannah. “After consulting with us, they recommended Zoho, and what was great is that we could customise it to best suit our needs.”

BDO Digital built three tailored dashboards for BePure’s teams, enabling all team members to access the data and tools most relevant to them. 

“The customised solution BDO Digital built has taken key pieces of functionality from a range of different products we explored and incorporated them into one streamlined system,” says Savannah. “Our reps can log visits and our office team can see what was discussed. It’s a more cohesive experience - and saves time.”

A platform for AI opportunities and customer benefits

Since implementing Zoho in December 2024, BePure’s team has embraced the new system. 

“The team has really bought into the customised Zoho solution we’ve built,” says Savannah. “With AI looming, we see this as a good intro to using more advanced tech tools, and we can build on it from here. Our sales reps are using it on the road to log visits and our office team is using it for reporting – it works for everyone.”

The integration with Cin7 has been a significant time-saver. BePure’s sales team can now track and create orders directly from Zoho, eliminating the need to switch between platforms.

“We’ve got everything in one place,” Savannah adds. “It’s more efficient than our previous HubSpot system, improves customer service and gives us visibility we didn’t have before.”

Advice for other growing businesses considering new solutions

Savannah’s advice for other businesses navigating similar growth challenges is simple: don’t settle for systems that don’t fit.

“Lots of CRMs are built for big companies. If you’re smaller, there’s probably a better-priced, better-suited option out there – you just need to find it. For example, I didn’t know Zoho was customisable until we explored it.”


She also recommends seeking expert help to identify, implement and customise technology solutions. “You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Ask for help. Get advice from someone who knows what they’re doing.”
