Chartered Accountant (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand)
Associate Chartered Accountant (Institute Chartered Accountants England & Wales).
Originally hailing from the agricultural county of Lincolnshire in eastern England, Steve’s journey towards a career in accounting started to take shape in 2003. Initially working as part of a small audit and accountancy team within a chartered firm, Steve has held relationships with a number of clients within the agricultural farming and cropping sector, whilst also studying towards the completion of an AAT qualification (Accounting Technician) in 2006.
The opportunity for further overseas travel was far too great to ignore, so in 2007 he returned back to New Zealand - a place he has always felt a real connection with. Steve took up a role within the health sector, gaining valuable industry experience as a management accountant during this time.
It was Steve’s passion for people and the chance to work with a diverse range of industries, which saw him join BDO Wellington as a member of their business advisory and taxation teams in 2008. It was also during this time that he met his lovely ‘kiwi wife to be’ Aimee - life could not get any better.
After returning to the UK to become a fully qualified chartered accountant, Steve and Aimee moved to Gisborne to continue their New Zealand life and raise their daughter Zoe. Steve joined the BDO Gisborne Agribusiness team and is currently playing an instrumental role in supporting and advising agribusiness clients along with assisting the tax team.
Steve was appointed to the role of Associate in August 2017 and is committed to ensuring his clients get the best advice possible to be able to make informed decisions. He enjoys the amazing family-friendly lifestyle that the Gisborne-Tairawhiti region has to offer and is extremely positive about what the future may hold for him here.
