• People & Values

BDO in the business of relationships. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to exceeding expectations on every engagement, big or small, for every client. Our commitment to building long-lasting relationships applies as much to our clients as it does to our team.

We know that our unique people make our firm exceptional which is why we strive to empower our professionals while meeting their commitments to their families, communities and to themselves.

We are committed to creating a people-first culture across the board.

Social Impact

What truly sets BDO Northland apart, is our commitment to actively engage in our community. As part of our pledge to back people in and out of the office we believe it is only fitting to sponsor and take part in a variety of events throughout Northland and across New Zealand. From fundraising for nationwide campaigns to supporting local sporting, charitable and cultural initiatives, we enjoy the camaraderie and team work that giving back to our community creates within our office.

Like many of the offices across New Zealand, we encourage our team to roll up their sleeves and contribute to a local community cause. This could mean collecting donations, planting trees or gifting our time.

Additionally, we are committed to promoting well-being through cycling, which applies as much to our community, as it does to our team. Many of our clients and team members are passionate cyclists, which is why we are proud to be the lead sponsor of The BDO Tour of Northland, one of New Zealand’s highest profile cycling events.

Our commitment to cycling and well-being begins with our youngest riders. We are proud to support young cycling talent across the Northland region. Representing the region in various events throughout the country and in some cases around the world, are our three BDO cycling ambassadors: Jorja Swain, Kurt Coetzee and Trevor Coetzee. These young people are destined to succeed in their chosen sport and BDO Northland are proud to support them along the way.

Just as we are committed to helping you, we are also committed to sustainability. We believe that green business is better business. That’s why we are part of BDO’s sustainability program, BDO Green, a firm wide promise to continuously look for ways to become a more environmentally friendly business. From electronic signature capability to our ongoing commitment to a paperless work space, we are proud to be environmentally aware.

Diversity & Inclusion

Our people-first culture means we are fully committed to providing an inclusive environment where diverse backgrounds and characteristics are valued. Our history of inclusion and building our team with a wide range of perspectives and world views has made BDO Northland a better place to work, and made us better at what we do.

Gender Balance

At BDO Northland, we believe that a balanced world is a better world. At our core, we embrace diversity and recognise that our gender-balanced team and boardroom is key to our workplace creativity, innovation and supportive working environment.

We pride ourselves on being proactive in our approach to employee well-being. We encourage our people to find a mutually beneficial mix of workplace commitment and personal flexibility. We also enjoy regular social get togethers and activities which our team and partners can enjoy together. BDO Northland's Whangarei and Kerikeri offices are proud to promote a healthy work life balance in and out of the office.
